The Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) helps us find a common number between a series of numbers. Imagine a school bell rings every 4 minutes, and another rings every 6 minutes. When will they ring together? The multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24… and the multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24… The smallest number they both share is 12. Both bells will ring together every 12 minute – this is the LCM.
